ElderCare 4 Families celebrates 40 years of caring for Louisville seniors!

The team at ElderCare 4 Families is incredibly grateful for the trust people have placed in us for the last 40 years in Louisville and southern Indiana. Founded in Louisville, Kentucky in 1981, ElderCare 4 Families proudly serves seniors and their families with in-home, non-medical, personal care services. We understand how difficult and emotional it can be to make the decision to find support for an elderly loved one. Beyond the benefits for your loved one, finding support can be greatly beneficial for family caregivers who may also be caring for children and family in their own home.

We encourage you to take time and consider whether a senior family member living in Louisville or surrounding areas could benefit from some extra help and companionship around the house. When you’re ready, the team at ElderCare 4 Families is ready to provide the non-medical services that make a positive difference for everyone in your family. If you are a primary caregiver, our services provide the flexibility you need to take time out for your own needs.

It is our privilege to serve you and your family, and we hope to continue our work in the Louisville community for the next forty years! We encourage you to consider all the ways we can help you and your senior loved ones.

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care Services

Characterized by memory loss, cognitive decline, and other symptoms, Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia and accounts for 60-to-80 percent of diagnosed cases. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, an estimated 5.8 million Americans age 65 and older were living with the disease in 2020. Eighty percent of these were age 75 and older.

If you are a caregiver to a friend or family member with Alzheimer’s, it’s important to give yourself grace, time, and patience in getting used to your “new normal”. Seek out help and support whenever necessary. Feeling isolated and alone on this journey can be unhealthy for you and your loved one. Exploring online resources is a good place to begin learning about the disease.

When you’re ready to consider additional caregiving support, Elder 4 Families provides in-home dementia care services that may provide the perfect bridge for you and your family. As you consider in-home care options for your loved one living with Alzheimer’s, or if you or a senior family member needs extra help to remain in their home, here are some ways ElderCare 4 Families can help:

Emotional Care Support: Companionship, meaningful activities, conversation

Personal Care Support: Basic grooming, bathing, eating, dressing, walking, toileting

Household Care Support: Cooking and meal prepping, cleaning, laundry, shopping, home safety, pet care

Overall Healthcare & Wellness Needs: Medication management, physician’s appointments, exercising

Companionship is important!

Maintaining relationships and contact with others is one of the strongest indicators of good physical and mental health in aging adults. Becoming isolated can be a detriment to anyone’s health and wellbeing. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), poor social relationships (characterized by social isolation or loneliness) was associated with a 29 percent increased risk of heart disease and a 32 percent increased risk of stroke.

ElderCare 4 Families caregivers fulfill a variety of roles, depending on what our clients need and want. And we work hard to match the right caregiver to your needs! Being there with our clients to simply provide warm companionship and accompanying you on errands or walks around the block are just some of the things we love doing with our valued clients.

Help with healthy meal preparation

ElderCare 4 Families in-home caregivers assist with meal preparation, as well! This is just one of many ways we can help your elderly loved one remain in their home as long as possible. Well-balanced, healthy meals are a very important part of maintaining health in wellness, particularly in elderly individuals who may have weakened immune systems or chronic medical conditions.
